Thank you, Angela, for helping me get back into driving again after 10 years of not driving.

Taking refresher driving lessons with Angela has made me a safe and confident driver, much more than I was before. A lot has changed on the roads in 10 years and she has taught me everything I needed to re-learn at a very high standard, making me feel comfortable and capable of driving anywhere. I am now driving about in my car and it feels amazing and I would recommend anyone who needs the confidence to get back in the car to take these refresher driving lessons, especially with Angela at Doxford Driving School

Refresher Driving Lessons

I originally passed my driving test aged 18, but then didn't drive for 20 years. I was embarrassed about the whole situation and with a young family, I needed to get back on the roads. I was extremely nervous. I was put in touch with Angela and began my refresher lessons. Fast forward to today and I am now driving again. I recently drove my family to Berwick and down the A1 to North Yorkshire. Angela gave me the confidence to get over this major issue in my life. She was always calm and extremely professional. Her knowledge of driving was superb and far more advanced than the instructor I had when I was younger. I would recommend Angela to anyone who is looking to learn to drive, or to anyone that has lost their confidence and needs help to overcome this.

A pass after no chance.

I was told by another driving school to give up driving. I was given the confidence by Scott at Doxford Driving School to give it another try and with his help, I passed my test. I genuinely would highly recommend Doxford Driving School to anyone including beginners and especially to those who seem to be nowhere nearer a test date than when they started, give Doxford Driving School a try.

Passed 1st Time... Definitely Would Recommend!

I started taking my driving lessons around 8 months ago with Andy - I had absolutely no driving experience and he made me feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. He was a very thorough and professional instructor, making sure I was able to meet all expected criteria on my driving test and he made sure to provide me with enough material and information to confidently pass my theory test first time, too! I would definitely recommend Doxford Driving School, and Andy in particular, to anyone looking to sit their driving test. Overall a great experience!

Passed 1st time with 4 minors!

I honestly could not recommend this driving school enough. After putting off driving for years I finally bit the bullet and booked some driving lessons with Doxford. Andy Atkinson was my instructor, he has the patience of a saint and nothing is too much trouble for him. Every lesson was enjoyable and everything explained simply. I am so thankful for Andy and Doxford driving schools and would recommend to anyone thinking about booking driving lessons!

Top driving school

Definitely one of the best driving schools in Sunderland.

The instructor I learned with, Scott, was absolutely head and shoulders above other instructors I had used before.

Was made to feel at ease behind the wheel of a car and not rushed through things too quickly. The experience I had with Doxford is one I hope many people have in the future.

Not only was my instructor the height of professionalism at all times but he was a very understanding and patient instructor; two vital virtues to consider when learning to drive!

I couldn’t recommend this place anymore!!

A rapid and safe pass with Angela

I passed my practical driving test and my theory with flying colours thanks to my instructor, Angela. She was patient, thorough and extremely proficient in her teaching ability. I passed with only 2 minors and I can say with certainty that it would only have been worse were it not for Angela's determination, friendliness, and personal investment. Would recommend to absolutely anyone and everyone.

Scott Gardiner driving instructor

The best instructor you could get! Friendly, understanding and fits around your times and schedules as best as he can. Does anything to help his students with their driving, made everything simple, considering driving is a pretty scary thing to do. Involved with the whole process of booking your theory and test! Easy to talk to about any concerns, would recommend him to anyone!

I can't recommend enough!

Passed my test with Andy! Over the moon with all my lessons and could not recommend him enough. Andy helped massively with building my confidence back up after failing a test and stopping driving for a while. I was very nervous at first but I have become a much better driver thanks to his patience and encouragement.

Excellent Driving School - Would not go anywhere else...!!

I cannot recommend Andy highly enough as a driving instructor.

Our son just passed his test last week and is already driving in his own car with confidence, largely thanks to the tuition he received with Doxford Driving School.

We had heard good things before deciding to book lessons and it's all true - we got friendly, reliable service and our son enjoyed a learning experience tailored to suit him personally.

Brilliant team to train with..

I booked 20 hours with my instructor George who was very professional and made things look easy. I had been with other schools before but his way of teaching made it a lot more easy and practical to carry out. Done my test today and passed with 4 minors. 100% recommended to friends and family

Doxford Driving School is an outstanding driving school, My instructor Andy Atkinson has been a fantastic help teaching me and nurturing me through my Learner stages. He is such a kind and friendly person, i will honestly miss driving with him. He is one of the best instructors you could ask for. Always polite, calming guides you and teaches you how to improve or corrects you if you've made a mistake. Makes the whole experience a nice relaxed and easy journey as you can joke around and have a few laughs about life or any mistakes you make while learning. Andy taught both my older sisters to drive and helped them pass. I would highly recommend Doxford Driving school to any new drivers looking to learn and drive. Over the past two years I have had many driving instructors, I just couldn't quite settle, however, once Andy began to teach me how to drive I was over the moon, my confidence grew behind the wheel and I became much better at driving, Andy is so amazing, he is so calm and patient and quite a funny guy, I really enjoyed my lessons especially the PASSING part, I would highly recommend Andy and anyone from his company as I'm sure they're all fantastic.

Passed First Time with 3 minors!

Today I passed my driving test on my first attempt with 3 minors. I have been having driving lessons for just less than two months with Andy Atkinson at Doxford Driving School. I came to Andy after having many hours with a previous instructor whilst away at university. This past experience was very stressful and tearful, so I came to Andy with a lot of anxiety and confidence issues. Andy is incredibly friendly, he holds a patient and encouraging demeanour which has allowed me to progress into a safe and confident driver. Most importantly, Andy praises you on what you have done well and constructively tells you what you may need to improve on. This experience has been so positive, I will be going back to see Andy for pass plus lessons in the future. I would completely recommend this driving school, particularly Andy as an instructor!

Amazing Driving School

I passed my test with only 3 minors. My instructor was Scott Gardiner and he was fantastic, really down to earth and helped me progress my driving always building on my weak areas and asking what I wanted help with to improve my confidence. I've had 3 different instructors due to moving around for uni and I have to say none of them have made me feel as comfortable in the car and relaxed while pushing me to improve. I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn to drive I've had an amazing experience learning with Scott, going to miss our lessons we laughed but was supportive through the entire process. Brilliant Driving School!

I passed my driving test, 1st time, with only 4 minors. Since then I have been driving safely for over a year.

Andrew Atkinson is a fantastic driving instructor who also helped my sister pass, 1st time, a few years ago. He creates a relaxing and friendly environment that instantly helps you learn. Andy is very patient, knowledgeable, funny and he is one of the nicest men I have ever met. He makes the lessons enjoyable and stimulating, there is never a dull moment.

I greatly appreciate all his hard work and I couldn't recommend him enough.

I have been learning to driver with Angela for 7 months she came highly recommended from my partner who passed an extended driving test with Angela. I have been learning to drive for the past 10 years on and off with 7 different instructor's and not one of them made me feel more at ease than Angela, she gave me the confidence to believe that I can do.

I passed first time with only 5 minors I have enjoyed my lessons with her and enjoyed the laugh we have had I will miss them. She has been very supportive throughout the whole process

Highly recommend this driving school. Ask for Scott

Having failed my driving test twice before with my previous instructor, I was a complete nervous wreck to get back in a car. Then I finally got the courage to get back into my driving thanks to Scott. I was always on edge and constantly holding myself back in my driving. I have always struggled with my manoeuvres until Scott showed me a much easier way to do them! Scott gave me the confidence to book my driving test and told me to go for it. I passed my driving test on my first attempt with Scott. I cannot recommend him enough. He is calm, reassuring and won't hold you back. Thank you so much for getting me through my test. Absolutely fantastic instructors, Andy Atkinson was a very, very patient instructor who tailored my lessons around my somewhat awkward work schedule and got me prepared for the test. Was only doing one hour per week due to personal budget and Andrew Atkinson still managed to get me through my driving test first time with just 3 minor faults, was so helpful and patient, no need to feel anxious as he is so calm which is a MASSIVE plus when you're a first time nervous driver, really flexible so able to book in lessons at relatively short notice if need be, would definitely recommend and money well spent as no lesson was a time waster.

Passed with only 3 minors!

I had many options for who to drive with as I already knew quite a few instructors, however, I chose Doxford because I knew Andy from football and it was the best decision I've made. His patience and ability to teach made the whole experience 100 times better. The experience was utterly daunting at first, having no prior knowledge of how to operate a car, but Andy taught me quickly and gave me confidence.

2 weeks later from passing yet I am still on cloud nine. Being on the roads now is a whole new experience, however, I feel completely safe as I know I had a great instructor.

What an amazing experience. Thank you! 1ST TIME PASS

I came to Doxford driving schools after being advised by my older brother who passed 1st time with them 3/4 years ago. He always told my family and me how good his lessons were with his instructor, Andy, and how he always really enjoyed them.

I am so pleased that I went with Doxford Driving School, from my first lesson on my 17th birthday I felt so relaxed in the car with Andy. Learning to drive for me was very daunting, but the experience was made more of an opportunity to enjoy learning new skills rather than a stressful and daunting time.

I can't praise the skill and patience that the instructors have, they are so calm no matter what and so supportive.

If you want to pass and feel confident when you go out on your own on the roads, I would highly recommend this company.

I had a few good laughs along the way, and I'm pleased to say that with the help of Andy and Doxford Driving school, I passed 1st Time with only 3 minors.

1st Time Pass with Doxford

Passed first time with only 5 minors. I learned to drive with Andy in only 6 months. Very patient and was made to feel safe and comfortable about driving at all times. I would recommend Doxford Driving School to anyone. 10/10.

Great driving instructor

Learned to drive with George would defiantly recommend him as me and my girlfriend both passed test the first time. He's got a great way of teaching and bringing things across to you defiantly my no.1 recommendation to any first-time drivers.

First Class

Steve Kirtley at Doxford Driving School was a first-class instructor whom we would highly recommend. James developed his driving skills through expert tuition and was able to pass the first time. The service provided was flexible and it was great that he could start lessons from school when needed.

The 1.5-hour lessons were particularly useful and ensured real progress as they were not rushed. Price and ability to pay in a block was good value.

Thanks again for enabling James to pass his test.

Great company

So happy I picked this company to learn my lessons from. Fantastic company, George was always on time for lessons and was very calm and collective during the lessons. Which helped me to feel very comfortable during lessons and on my test which I passed the first time due to George's teaching. I would very highly recommend this company, which helped me learn to drive and pass my test no problem.

great driving school!

I would highly recommend Doxford Driving School to anyone who wants to learn to drive. I passed my test with Angela last week, who was fantastic. She is very professional and passionate about her job. I had several instructors before her and some bad experiences from different companies. I wish I chose Doxford from the start! Excellent Company overall, couldn't thank Doxford and Angela enough.

Passed 1st with 5 minors

If anyone is thinking about learning to drive then I would recommend this driving school to anyone. I learned with Andy Atkinson, he's a great instructor with the patience of a saint. He is always relaxed and makes you feel very comfortable behind the wheel. Andy is a great friend of mine and I can't thank him enough for pushing me to the best of my ability. So, anyone thinking about learning to drive would be silly not to choose this company.
